Freedom of speech is a constitutional right that all of us hold dear, everyone uses it daily or not at all in some cases. Teachers however use it just as much, and there have been quite a few court cases establishing what rights to free speech teachers have. Examining the pros and cons of this situation regarding Ann Griffin was dismissed based on concerns from a statement regarding African-Americans and how the court should rule in this case. In the first proof the argument for her dismissal on the basis that she would not be able to treat others fairly based on what she said. Secondly, being that she would not be able to work effectively with her colleagues. On the other spectrum of the argument, her right to free speech and what are the limits regarding her free speech as a teacher? While finally coming down to her right to an opinion with her free speech in that workspace. Tying together what is ultimately the ruling on her case. Initially, in the dismissal of Ann Griffin, from her comment that she â€Å"Hated all black folks† it brought about evident items from such speech. These items leading to further discrimination of students stemming off the statement she made. Leading to one of the reasons she was dismissed from her job from the principal. The statement she made was one of public concern as it advocated that she would possibly discriminate. Example of this in Daniels V. For example in Indiana it may be really warm one day, but the next day it could snow. Climate is an occurrence to the atmosphere that happens over a long period of time. For example it has been show that over long periods of time the earth seems to be warming more and more each year. 2. According to my research, many scientists believe that the earth’s atmosphere is warming. The figures for juveniles committing crimes that are serious, heterogeneous, or non-serious mirror those of offenders between the ages of eighteen and twenty (U.S. Department of Justice/ FBI fact file). Any study can show the same facts- that youth violence and criminal acts are on the rise. These must be punished. The causes or signs of risk of teen violence can be shown in many factors: violent media, bullying, depression, being an outcast, fascination with guns or death, societys opinion, and teenage mood swings. Individuals that exhibit these qualities very often commit violent crimes. These characteristics are that of personality, not necessarily able to be changed without a serious program (such as detention or prison). Also, these individuals are usually possessing motives when committing the crimes; if he or she has the adult mentality to do an adult crime, it is only logical and fair that he or she is punished likewise. Though a juvenile may not understand their circumstances or not have full brain development, he or she is still capable of deciding right and wrong- every human has a moral code, even toddlers know this difference. Anyone, no matter the age, should receive an equalizing punishment for a violent crime. Such acts may not go unnoticed; the criminals must be dealt with in a legal manner. Prosecuting juveniles as adults for the violent crimes that they commit gives the best chance of issuing a sentence that is in accordance with the offense. All should be fair in love, war, crime, and punishment.
